January started what will be a year of big milestones for Ruby Protocol. We are excited to share with you all our first monthly review, to keep the community up to date on what’s happening on our side of Web3.

AMAs and Media

Our Director of Business Development — Graeme Fox — provided the latest updates on what we’re working on at Ruby in an AMA with CryptoXVerse, and chatted with the CryptoBlade community on the importance of individual privacy and data integrity.

Data Privacy Week: January 24 — to January 28

Data Privacy Week is an international and collective effort to create awareness around digital data privacy, and to shine a light on how it is being used, and sometimes exploited, by businesses who want to appear privacy-focused.

As a privacy-first protocol for Web3, Ruby intends to be a leader on the topic and discussion of privacy. Through Ruby, people will have complete control of their data, and the ability to share it — on their terms.

A lack of digital awareness is often a contributing factor to why internet-users’ data can easily be exploited. As part of Data Privacy Week, we shared some next practices for keeping your data safe:

We believe everyone has the fundamental right to privacy. The concept of privacy is an essential foundation upon which many other rights are built. We released a Medium article highlighting our thoughts:

Looking Ahead in 2022

In Q1-Q2, we will focus primarily on growing our tech stack, shipping our Testnet, engaging in partnership discovery with a variety of projects surrounding Privacy-as-a-Service solution, and crafting a developer adoption program to introduce our privacy-first chain to a new user base — armed with the knowledge of what a privacy-first approach to decentralized applications means fo the broader Web3 space.

In Q3, our mission is to deploy on the Polkadot Network via a Parachain slot, successfully launching the $RUBY token generation event. The support of our community will play a key and fundamental role in our success, and early supporters will be rewarded. A community rewards program will be rolled out as we move closer to the projected date.

Preserving privacy, a core and essential value, is our focus for 2022. With your support, we plan to be a key part of the privacy renaissance. We hope you’re ready for what comes next.

About Us

Ruby Protocol is a cross-chain, privacy-first infrastructure, powered by Polkadot. Our layer-1 protocol utilizes Functional Encryption (FE) cryptography, which allows users to adopt a modular approach to data privacy and ownership. This novel solution will allow users to encrypt sensitive information on-chain, which can only be decrypted by holders of an approved private key.

Ruby’s FE Substrate-pallet will serve as the building blocks for privacy-first smart contract DApps building on the native Ruby Chain, while also acting as a privacy layer for Parachains and Web3 DApps across the Polkadot ecosystem.
