Ruby Protocol — 2022 in Rewind

2022 is nothing but a historical year for Ruby Protocol and the broad crypto community. It is considered one of the most tumultuous years the crypto space has ever witnessed.

Early in 2022, central banks around the world began to raise interest rates to slow inflation and decrease the rate of economic expansion. The tightening of monetary and fiscal policies has dramatically reduced investors’ appetite for risk and alternative assets.

If the butterfly effect is worth anything, it teaches us that small things matter and that we are all connected to a bigger system. Unfortunately, even though the crypto community is striving to build a system independent from the matrix, our fledgling community is still not immune to the actions of the current establishment.

In the falling row of dominoes, the crisis only amplifies the velocity.

It turned out CeFi institutions were overleveraged, having lent significant funds to hedge funds such as Three Arrows Capital, which lost tremendous capital in the sell-off that followed the Terra failure. In addition, companies such as Celsius Network and Voyager Digital, which promised attractive yields to users, failed, and users lost their funds. It also turned out that the seemingly strong FTX and Sam Bankman-Fried, who continued to invest and bailed out many startups, were simultaneously committing one of the most jaw-dropping frauds crypto has ever seen.

So, in the last days of 2022, out of respect for this wild year, let’s rewind the tape and enjoy the crazy ride again, and maybe sit back and bask a bit in the achievements we made together.

We believe doing the year-end review is a smart way to strategize for the future and a perfect opportunity to remind us of our original vision and how the tech we are building will improve people’s professional and personal lives.

2022 was a memorable year for Ruby Protocol — for our team and the whole privacy-loving community who built it with us. We want to take this chance to reflect on our journey and, more importantly, to thank you for making this community a noble purpose to work for and for being a part of this great project.

Let’s look forward to a brand new year together.

First Thing First — PoC Launch

We are thrilled to announce Ruby Protocol now delivers successful Proof of Concept — Ruby Connect.

📚 Check our 👉 Project Wiki for more details.

💻 Or experience 👉 Ruby Connect now.

Our Proof of Concept (PoC) team focuses on developing technical demonstrations to showcase how our solutions can be utilized in real-world environments to help with the expanding data management needs. We believe this is our unique way of addressing data needs, which will propel users to rethink data and data management.

New Lead New Future

We kicked off 2022 with the introduction of our new General Manager, Mindaugas Savickas, who will bring his extensive knowledge of marketing, management, and branding to Ruby Protocol and help streamline the business’s day-to-day operations and manage and expand our decentralized team.

Mindaugas has 14 years of management & successful marketing leadership. He devised and executed numerous strategic and hands-on marketing solutions for global brands and tech startups in the United States, EU, LATAM, and Southeast Asia.

After several internal optimization moves, we gradually onboarded several developers and formed a new group of Ruby Ambassadors with our Ruby Protocol Global Ambassador Program to help us become a more prominent community.

New Teaser Video

As the animation shows, Ruby Protocol is now a Web3 Privacy-Centric Infrastructure that aims to make Web3 Privacy Possible.

Any action is a data point, and its collection forms your life. In the near future of the data world, we aim, with Ruby Protocol, to implement a privacy layer interacting with the multi-chain ecosystem. It is a fine-grained private data access-control gateway across different entities and organizations in the decentralized and traditional financial world.

Brand New Look — Ruby’s New Website

A new chapter merits a new look. Sometimes, predictability can lead to failures.

The new website revolves around Ruby as the inspiration for the main aesthetics. The dominating graphics resemble gemstone cutting surfaces using polygonal design, supplemented by the refraction of gemstone light to create a sense of dignity and reflect the value of your data.

Ruby Protocol — Privacy, A Conceptual Shift First

One of the most critical jobs of Ruby Protocol is to build a solid infrastructure for a private data management framework, and another is to preach about the importance of privacy. Only in this way can we set this movement in motion.

The fact that most people are uninformed about how much of their private data is online and how it is obtained without their consent makes it more difficult for any technology to reverse the situation.

In this article and many other articles, we aim to get you on the same page and help you understand the premise upon which we are building our belief system and this project.

Ruby Protocol’s Global Footprints

In June of 2022, we took Ruby Protocol and our technical solutions on a world tour. Web3 and its underlying technology would likely change how we operate in the digital world. If it changes, it is changing too. As the builders of Ruby Protocol, we need to stay updated on the latest innovations and tech trends and find the right people to network with to help locate the resources we need to realize our vision.

Polkadot Decoded Conference

It is a conference for the Polkadot community, featuring talks and workshops on all things Polkadot. The importance of this event is apparent since Ruby Protocol is a cross-chain, privacy-first infrastructure powered by Polkadot.

Unchained Event

Unchained Event is a cross-ecosystem gathering of DeFi’s greatest minds, with key speakers from the Polkadot, Cosmos, Ethereum & EVM ecosystems.

Expanding Global Ambassador Program

Success, in many cases, is a process of iterations.

In July, we decided to expand our Global Protocol Ambassador and bring you the RPA V2.0, in which we would bring in more crypto talents dedicated to building reciprocal relationships that foster Web3 and data understanding through various efforts.

In Ruby Protocol Ambassadors (RPAs) V2.0, we envisioned an additional 15–20 RPA’s to cover different cultures. (specifically in Spanish, Asian, Arabic, and Indian-speaking countries.). Preferably, the candidates should be natives of the culture and language they are responsible for.

Ruby Protocol Insights & In-Depth Articles

It cannot be stressed enough that, in the 21st century, data explains our reality. If you face it, you can understand it, and then you can do something about it. If not, everything human cooperation strives for might be chipped away insidiously.

Now and then, the Ruby Protocol team would publish lengthy and well-researched articles to bring light to the harsh reality that the odds are against us, to warn us that we need to stay vigilant, and to explain why Ruby Protocol is an answer.

  • A Small Thesis on the Necessity of Ruby Protocol & Web3 tries to use the recent data breach incidents as examples to explain why centralizing data is so dangerous and why Ruby Protocol and Web3 work in favor of you and me.
  • Ruby Protocol & Dataism tries to simplify what Dataism represents and break the naive utopian future where data and the almighty algorithms could somehow unshackle humans. The alarm bell must ring. That is the point of Ruby Protocol and Web3.

The Voice of Ruby Protocol

“Today, the Treasury is sanctioning Tornado Cash, a virtual currency mixer that launders the proceeds of cybercrimes, including those committed against victims in the United States,” said Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian E. Nelson.

It is worth iterating that the sole purpose of Ruby Protocol is to make privacy accessible to everyone. It is the Decentralized Privacy-Centric Protocol for Web3. We aim to create a fine-grained private data access-control gateway across different entities and organizations in the decentralized and traditional financial world.

However, the recent news made us wonder if building a tool is wrong, if creating something technologically superior becomes a crime, and what it means for us and societies.

If free speech should be written into law to break the rising tide of cancel culture.

Then technological free speech should be protected to break the shackles imposed on privacy, ideas, and growth.

We Are Having a War on Data

In this century, combatants in the new age cold war are fighting over the currency of the modern age: data (personal information). The battles are over who controls data. Unfortunately, it seems that those who control it win the war while those who do not are forced to slave away.

The people who believe that individuals have an absolute right to control their data will exercise the same kind of dominion over data that they do over their bodies or their personal property. And those that believe that personal data is good to be traded on the open market and thus subject to the same market forces at play elsewhere.

Protect yourself with Ruby Protocol.
